Mad Mac 2012
I've been kind of lazy this week. I've been lying around on the coach looking for something to watch on TV. On the History Channel they were talking about “one of the greatest Americans ever”... the documentary was about Ronald Reagan … What a big joke! I still can't believe that the man who has given us so much to be thankful for... you hardly know where to start ….but I will try (LMAO)
First lets look at the time when this thing called “trickle down economics”) was born. It was the late 70's and things in America were a changing. The Deep South was now fully integrated (the races were mixing) the wild demonstrations of the 60's, the end of the war in Vietnam, unions and the middle class were strong. High paying jobs with benefits made the notion of a national health care plan unheard of because if you worked you had health insurance.
The distrust of government after the war and all the conspiracy theories have turned out to be true and were at a fever pitch among many people. White people mistrusted the government because they gave blacks power to fight against Jim Crow laws and move up the ladder into more important positions in society. Blacks had real reason to mistrust both state, local and federal government. More about that in a later blog.
We as a people got lax, everything was moving along so well that everyone could buy a home and just about any one who was working could buy a new car every three or four years. The money was rolling and we all were trying to “keep up with the Jones”. We were a generation that were just having fun and partying...we all feel asleep at the wheel. Because America had gotten away with a couple of trumped up wars (Korea, Vietnam) and people found they could make billions of dollars from your hard work and sacrifice. This is where Reagan comes in.
Now when I say Reagan I go well beyond just him he was just the front man and pitch man for a movement that has turned us into a class society. Like fools we all fell to the siren call of corporate America, religion and right wing talk radio marching our way into a “prison planet”
Reagan brought us the breaking of unions (remember PATCO) and the beginning of the end of the middle class. He brought us drug testing for the worker but not for judges and other high end jobs. He made it cool for us to be greedy, just take a look at the TV and music of that time. It was all about giving away your money and privileges to the wealthy. It's called the “trickle down” theory of economics. The idea being that if you give the wealthy tax cuts they will provide jobs for people and this will allow wealth to “trickle down” to the lower classes. Every credible person of the time warned us not to believe this theory; it will kill the middle class and cause a separation of the people and we will end up living in a Dickensian society. They called it “voodoo economics. We should have listened. They said this would improve our lives that we would all profit from this. They had good reasons for all the policies and laws they passed. Good reasons to give away all of our rights. The New York and Chicago train wrecks brought us drug testing. Missing kids brought us cameras everywhere we go. 911 brought us the Patriot Act which includes the FBI coming into your house and searching it without even telling you they've been there and going to library to see which books you've checked out. Every law in the country, no the world has been slanted to the advantage of the real beast, Big Business.
Reagan and Big Business joined hand in hand with organized religion (the church) to enslave us to not the government but to them and corporate America. We are now really beginning to feel the effects of Reagan’s view of America. No job security, low paying jobs. No benefits or pensions, no health care and ultimately no middle class. You are working longer and harder for less compensation. Yet you have to play the game; hey we all have to eat. We gave away our rights for short term relief. For 30 years I've warned people to be mindful of the ramifications of some of these solutions to problems that we've been offered. Think about the long term effects further down the road. My question is how do you like the great American hero’s dream for America now? This is not about Obama, Clinton or even Bush this stuff goes way back. It is not about country control this is about world domination and it is something we need to do something about before it's too late.
The Bible was right the Beasts best trick is to make man believe he doesn't exist. He does exist and he doesn’t have horns, We must fight back and the first step is knowledge. Well until next time don't be shy Reply
